Currently, the City of Belleville has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, strategic and dynamic individual to join the Community Services Department as an Arena Maintenance Person in the Properties and Facilities Division.
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Reporting to the Supervisor of Facilities Operations, this position works with limited supervision, performs a variety of semi-skilled work in the maintenance of City’s recreation facilities; and performs related duties as assigned.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the City owned ice resurfacers.
- Assist with the preparation and installation of the ice sheets.
- Perform daily general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping and cleaning.washrooms
- Troubleshoot maintenance problems involving electrical, structural, plumbing, and equipment repair or replacement.
- Perform preventive building maintenance duties.
- Perform routine plumbing repairs such as unstopping toilets, sinks or urinals, fixing water leaks, leaking faucets, and water fountains.
- Perform routine electrical repairs such as changing light bulbs or fluorescent lamps and assists in repairing ballast and light fixtures.
- Assemble and move furniture, hang pictures and bulletin boards, move and set up tables and chairs.
- Repair and replace door knobs or locks, repair door closures.
- Patch holes in walls, paint interior and exterior walls.
- Work independently and as a part of a team.
- Ability to prioritize and lead a crew to achieve the tasks at hand.
- Other duties as assigned in support of the department.
EDUCATION/SPECIALIZED TRAINING/SKILLS:
Essential (minimum) qualifications:
- Grade twelve (12) Diploma
- Current WHMIS
- Valid Driver’s License class ‘G’
- Valid First Aid/CPR
Asset (preferred) qualifications:
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO)
- Electrical Techniques Certificate or Equivalent
- Fall Arrest Training
- Lock out/Tag out
- Confined Space
- Elevated platform/personal lift training
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Essential (minimum) qualifications:
- Two (2) years of related work experience
Asset (preferred) qualifications:
- Basic or Advanced refrigeration certification
