JUNIOR THEATRE CAMP LEADER

Position Type: Temporary Full-Time

Term of Employment: Approx. June 24th – September 1st, 2023
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, various hours between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Rate of Pay: $16.86 per hour
As a member of the Community Services Department, these positions will provide safe supervision and leadership for children and youth with games and activities, allowing the participants to express themselves and socialize in a creative, fun-filled atmosphere. Senior Leaders will plan and implement summer programs for various camps responsible for monitoring Leaders-In-Training and assisting with administration of the camp.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the safety and supervision of the participants and ensure the rules andregulations set out by the Department and/or outside organizations, are followed.
- Assist with the development, implementation, supervision and evaluation the dailyactivities to ensure a successful program.
- Assist with the proper handling and care of the equipment, supplies and facilities utilized,
- reporting damages or losses to the Program Supervisor.
- Assist with the daily maintenance and cleanliness of the facility where the program isheld.
- Assist with the completion and submission of the required administrative forms on aweekly basis (ie. accident forms, supply requests, special event forms, etc.).
- Staff will be required to participate in daily activities with the campers.
- Act as Senior Leader if the Senior Leader is absent.
- Evaluate the overall success of the program and submit reports and recommendations.
- Prepare and implement bi-weekly evening performances for the campers to present totheir families.
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings when required.
- Attend the Summer Staff Training.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
- Standard First Aid & CPR ‘C’
- High Five Principals of Healthy Child Development certification
- Minimum of two (2) years/seasons of experience as a Junior Program Leader orequivalent experience working with children in a recreational or teaching setting.
- Experience with program/lesson planning, design, development, and implementation ofchildren’s, age appropriate activities.
- Past theatre experience is considered an asset
- Child/youth related field of study considered an asset
- Valid ‘G’ Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle (required for some positions).
