HEAD SKATING INSTRUCTOR

As a member of the Community Services Department, this staff person will provide instruction to children and youth for the City of Belleville’s Skating Programs. This position reports directly to the Youth Programmer.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensuring the City’s skating programs provide safe and appropriate supervision to the participants and that the policies and procedures set out by the Community Services Department and/or outside organizations are followed.
- Represent the City on a Professional Manner following all Department Policies and Procedures.
- Provide to the participants excellent customer service including management of conflict through following procedures and effective problem solving.
- Assist the Program Supervisor in the development and implementation of a training program for skating staff.
- Assist the Program Supervisor in the evaluation and supervision of all skating staff and skating programs and recommend changes when warranted.
- Prepare and submit necessary written reports and communicate regularly with the Program Supervisor.
- Ensure all program areas are properly supplied with equipment, ribbons, paperwork, and any other supplies that may be required for skating programs.
- Responsible for the administration, paperwork, timesheets, etc. are completed properly and submitted as per the procedures set out.
- Act as a resource person to the skating staff.
- Responsible for, along with the Skating Instructors, the assessment and evaluation of each of the skating participants.
- Assist the Program Supervisor with preparation of staff schedules and shift coverage.
- Attend all Staff Training sessions and scheduled staff meetings, as required.

Education/Specialized Training:
- Post-secondary student or graduate.
- Hold a valid Standard First Aid & CPR ‘C’ certificate.
- Hold a valid Skating Instructor Certificate.
Work Experience:
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience as a Skating Instructor.
- Minimum of two (2) years administrative experience.
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Previous experience in a supervisory role is considered an asset.
