SKATING INSTRUCTOR

Hours: Varied. Evenings and Weekends, approx. 2-5 hours per week

Rate of Pay: $16.86 - $22.76
As a member of the Community Services Department, this staff person will provide instruction to children and youth in the City of Belleville’s Skating Programs. This position reports directly to the Youth Programmer.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the safety and supervision of the participants and for ensuring the rules and regulations set out by the Community Services Department and/or outside organizations are followed.
- Represent the City with professionalism by following all of the Staff Policies and Procedures set out by the Department.
- Must be knowledgeable of City Programs and have strong public relation skills.
- Responsible for providing skating instruction and feedback to students and their parents for the City’s skating programs.
- Assume the responsibility for assessing and responding in an emergency situation.
- Responsible for administration and paperwork for the City’s skating programs.
- Attend all Staff Training sessions and scheduled staff meetings, as required.

Education/Specialized Training:
- High School Diploma in progress, at minimum.
- Hold a valid Standard First Aid & CPR ‘C’ certificate.
- Any skating certifications would be considered an asset.
Work Experience:
- Experienced skater
- Previous experience as a skating instructor is considered an asset.
