SENIOR WATER CAMP LEADER

Position Type: Temporary Full-Time

Number of Positions: One (1)
Term of Employment: Approx June 24th - Sept 1st, 2023
Rate of Pay: $17.93 per hour
As a member of the Community Services Department, this staff person will provide safe supervision, organize and implement games and activities for children, allowing the participants to express themselves in both the pool and on land through games, craft activities and water sports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the safety and supervision of the participants and ensure the rules and regulations set out by the Department and/or outside organizations, are followed.
- Assist with the development, implementation, supervision and evaluation the daily activities to ensure a successful program.
- Assist with the proper handling and care of the equipment, supplies and facilities utilized, reporting damages or losses to the Program Supervisor.
- Assist with the daily maintenance and cleanliness of the facility where the program is held.
- Assist with the completion and submission of the required administrative forms on a weekly basis (ie. accident forms, supply requests, special event forms, etc.).
- Staff will be required to participate in daily activities with the campers (including swimming).
- Evaluate the overall success of the program and submit reports and recommendations.
- Prepare and implement bi-weekly evening performances for the campers to present to their families.
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings when required.
- Attend the Summer Staff Training.
Key Qualifications:
- Minimum of two (2) years/seasons previous experience as a camp leader and/or children's recreation leader in a supervisory position required
- Hold a current Standard First Aid and C.P.R. Certification
- Experience in canoeing and water sports is required
- Hold the High Five - Principles of Healthy Child Development certification
- Hold a current National Lifeguard Certificate
- Student or graduate (studying in a child related field is an asset)
- Certified Water Safety Instructor is an asset
